Dana Richard founded PermitMap to organize fragmented public construction records into source-labeled market intelligence. PermitMap combines comparable county-level construction indicators with project-level jurisdiction feeds where supported, while keeping source, cadence, coverage, and modeled metrics explicit.

Public permit records are the idea behind everything PermitMap publishes. Building permits are filed as projects move toward construction, which makes them a useful public signal of construction activity. By organizing them from supported public permit sources and filtering by trade and location, PermitMap gives contractors a filtered working list of permit records to research. Permits are public records that may be available to others, and a permit does not prove a job is open.

Dana oversees the data pipeline and editorial analysis behind PermitMap’s market reports — the same public permit data, cross-referenced with the U.S. Census Building Permits Survey, that contractors use to research relevant projects before deciding whether and how to conduct outreach.
